The Beginning
It started with a quiet frustration.
We're a small London-based studio. We started AUREA because we couldn't find what we were looking for — a bag that did the job, lasted more than a year, and didn't cost £350 to make a point.
What we kept finding was either disposable fast fashion that fell apart by month four, or designer pieces priced for the marketing campaign and not the materials. Nothing in between.
So we made the in between.
We work directly with the makers, skip the middlemen, and pass the saving straight to you. The result is the bag you reach for every morning — for years.
The Material
We chose vegan leather. On purpose.
Not because it's trendy. Because, after ten rounds of sampling and side-by-side comparisons with real leather, it held its shape better, weighed less, and resisted spills without scarring.
It's pebbled, supple, water-repellent, and certified by EU material standards. It ages well. It doesn't crack. It feels like something you'd expect to pay much more for.
And nothing was tanned with chromium to make it.
What We Believe
Three things, repeated.
Everything we make is filtered through these. Nothing else passes.
Considered design
Every detail has a reason. Every measurement is the result of someone holding it, wearing it, and saying "this works." If it doesn't, we change it.
Honest pricing
We don't have a flagship on Bond Street or a celebrity face for the campaign. What we save by skipping those, we give back in the price. Always.
Made to last
The bag should still be in your wardrobe in three years. The strap should still sit flat. The lining should still look new. That's the test.
The Process
Sampled ten times. Sometimes more.
Before any piece reaches you, it's been through ten rounds of prototyping. We sample, wear it, break it, fix it, and start again. The Toscano took five months.
Every stitch is stress-tested. Every clasp is opened a thousand times. Every seam is checked by hand. If it doesn't survive the test, the piece doesn't ship.
It's slower. But it's the only way we know.

Our studio is in a quiet street in Islington, north London. Sample boxes arrive weekly. We open them, wear them, walk with them, and write down what works and what doesn't.
